Students in this 30 minute class practice ballet technique in pointe shoes.

At this level students have mastered basic ballet steps and techniques, and are advancing their skills by dancing on pointe. Exercises at the barre and in the center are used to build muscles in the feet, ankles, legs and core enough to support dancing in pointe shoes. Students will progress at their own pace during this class as they build muscle and master the skills necessary for this art form.

Students must audition via pre-pointe, or be invited by an instructor, to be a part of this class.

If your dancer has already received an invite, you’re welcome to register for this class and set an appointment at Bobby’s to get fitted for your shoes. (Bring your shoes to the first week of class untouched, and your teacher will pin your elastic and ribbons to be sewn and give you any other instructions needed to prep your shoes for class!)

If your dancer hasn’t yet received an invite, or you’re new to STARS and are interested in dancing en pointe, please enroll in the Pre-Pointe class next summer, or register for a private lesson to audition. All students enrolled in Pointe I+2 must be enrolled in a ballet class.

*Age/Experience: Students in this class are 12-18 years old, are enrolled in a ballet class at SDA, and have passed our pre-pointe class.

*Dress code: Leotards are required for this class, along with tights and/or fitted dance shorts. Undergarments should not be worn under dancewear. Hair must be pulled up in a ponytail, braid or bun.

*Shoes: Pointe shoes are required for this class every single week. Shoes should be purchased at Bobby’s Dancewear, where you’ll need to make an appointment for a pointe shoe fitting. (Please do not purchase pointe shoes until your teacher has instructed you to do so.)

Adding a class online will reserve a spot in your selected day/time for $5/class. This $5 acts as your registration fee.
