Corrie Higgins | Director

Miss Corrie

Corrie fell in love with dance at age 3, and has dedicated herself to the art of teaching. Her dance experience includes a lifetime of classes, local competitions and workshops, high school dance team, and touring as a backup dancer for Mulberry Lane, but she has always preferred the experience in class over performing. Corrie has a bachelor's degree from UNO, and more than 15 years of teaching experience. She continues to expand her knowledge in the field and is constantly learning new dance and teaching styles. She recently helped SDA become the only studio in Nebraska to be certified through Acrobatic Arts, the only professional curriculum for acrobatic dance. Corrie hopes to continue to make STARS a place for students to work hard and accomplish goals in a loving, supportive, passionate atmosphere!

Chloe Staley

Miss Chloe

Chloe has been part of SDA since 2003, and has been a vital part of our family since day one. While in high school, she fell in love with performing on stage at our recitals, with her high school dance team, in every school musical, and with School of Rock’s performance group. Chloe is now a Middle School teacher, and loves using her well-practiced teaching philosophies in the dance studio. She mixes her loves of teaching and dance as a member of our teaching faculty for the last seven years, and as the head coach for the Roncalli High School dance team. She loves being in the studio sharing her passion for dance with her students, and we feel very lucky to have her sharing her performance expertise with the next generation!

Miss Crystian

Crystian has been dancing and performing with STARS since 2005. Since she was little, she has taken her craft very seriously- a trait that made her an amazing technician and one that she now passes on to her students. She seamlessly transitioned from student to teacher six years ago, bringing with her the experience as captain of her high school dance team. As a recent graduate of UNO, she is excited to have more time available to do what she truly loves - teaching and inspiring young dancers to work hard to reach their goals!

Miss Lindsay

Lindsay fell in love with dancing at the age of two. She danced, competed and taught classes until she graduated high school, and though she took a few years off to pursue other passions and start a family, she never lost her love of dance. She’s been back in the studio for 5 years now, and loves work with the students and teachers at STARS (and the feeling is mutual!). Lindsay has her hands full with three girls at home, but this busy mom is a pro at balancing it all, and she’s looking forward to watching her students continue to grow this season!

Michaela Sherman

Miss Kayla

Kayla has been a key member of STARS since before we opened our doors. In addition to teaching and competing at SDA, she was a member of her high school dance team for four years. She then earned her BFA in dance from Stephens College and worked professionally in many productions and was a member of 940 Dance Company in Kansas City. Kayla has continued teaching classes in her time off from performing and we're proud to have this exceptionally talented dancer and teacher at SDA! When Kayla isn’t teaching and choreographing at the studio, she can be found chasing after her three daughters, who are following after their mama’s dancer footsteps!

Miss Mary Ann

Mary Ann is a former Miss Dance of Mid-America (Dance Masters of America Organization). She has continuously trained in dance for over 30 years, has been teaching her whole adult life, and has been sharing her knowledge with students at STARS since it opened in 2003. Mary Ann's students and choreography consistently take home top awards at local and regional competitions including a "Highest Scoring Overall" trophy from Dance Olympus Regionals in Kansas City. Mary Ann is committed to provide a learning environment at STARS that builds self-esteem, teamwork, and artistic appreciation.

Miss Makayla

Makayla has trained extensively in ballet, lyrical, musical theater, jazz and tap since age 5 and was part of SDA’s competition team in high school, taking home top honors in group dances and solos before graduating our program in 2020. Makayla is currently studying Molecular Biology at UNO, but is so excited to be back at home in the studio working with the next generation of dancers at STARS!

Miss Caitlin

Caitlin has been dancing since she was 2 years old, and competed regionally with her home studio in California. During her high school years she performed and choreographed for local parades, including the Christmas Parade at Disneyland! Since graduating high school, she’s been teaching ballet, tap, jazz, and musical theater in both her home state, and in North Dakota where she recently graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degrees in Atmospheric Sciences and Communication. Caitlin moved to Omaha in the Summer of 2021 and is thrilled to have found a new dance studio to call home!
