This class is brand new to SDA!

This 30 minute contemporary class is for all dancers 12 and up who are interested in exploring a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern movements.

To compare it to lyrical dance (another ballet/jazz fusion), the contemporary style pushes past the boundaries of the ballet technique, allowing for bent knees, turned in legs, flexed feet, and sharp, angular lines. We often see an increase in floor work in contemporary choreography, so acro skills and flexibility often come into play!

The price for this class depends on the number of classes taken, since this is always a secondary class. Please see our tuition page for details.

*Age/Experience: Dancers are 12-18 years old, and must be currently enrolled in a ballet class at SDA.

*Dress Code: Any fitted dancewear is permitted. Baggy tshirts and clothing should be removed before class so the instructors can accurately adjust your movement.

*Shoes: Dancers may practice in bare feet, or in any of their dance shoes.

Adding a class online will reserve a spot in your selected day/time for $5/class. This $5 acts as your registration fee.
