Policies for Summer and Fall 2011
DRESS CODE*
ATTIRE Leotards are required for every class. (For acrobatics classes, tights are not required, and if tights are worn
they should be convertible or footless tights). SDA tank tops, dance shorts, skirts and tights are great additions to
a leotard. Dancewear is available at STARS Dance Academy for $12-$15 per item.
For Hip Hop classes, please wear fitted athletic wear that you can move in. Half of your body is to be in traditional
dance clothes (ex: a leotard with sweatpants, or a sweatshirt and dance shorts will be accepted).
SHOES Dance shoes should be purchased at Bobby's Dancewear at 14508 West Center Road.
HAIR All hair needs to be secured away from the face and neck in a pony tail, braid, or bun for every class. Hair for
performances will be discussed during Parent's Week in the Spring.
JEWELRY No jewelry is allowed for any performances. Small stud earrings are allowed in class, at the dancer's
discretion. All other jewelry needs to be removed before class begins.
*Any dancer who fails to adhere to dress code policies will be subject to removal from class.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance for all dance classes is very important. We understand things happen, so in case of an absence,
please notify the studio as soon as possible. In the second half of the year, when we are preparing for the recital,
attendance is mandatory. If you dancer misses more than two classes in the third or fourth quarter, your teacher
will require private lessons at $20 per half hour until he/she is caught up.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If, for any reason, your dancer is unable to continue with classes, please notify us immediately, and please fill out a
comment card if there is anything we can improve. We do not offer refunds for pre-paid classes including
costume fees.
WINTER WEATHER POLICY
Other than our scheduled class breaks, only bad weather will keep us from holding class. In case of bad weather,
check the local news for OPS cancellations. If OPS cancels activities for the day, or evening activities are
cancelled, we will also close the studio. We will do our best to update the website home page as soon as we can
to reflect cancelled classes. Please check for cancellations, and if there are questions call the cell phone at
402-960-8309.
HOLIDAYS
We will hold class every day except our scheduled breaks for Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring which can be
found on the dates page. All other holidays will not be observed so each class will receive their full 32 lessons.
Aside from our scheduled holidays, the only days we will not hold class will be in case of bad weather, according
to our Winter Weather Policy above.
WAITING ROOM
The waiting room is not monitored by SDA staff. Please wait with your child in the waiting room until the class door
is opened by the teacher. If you are going to be late picking up your dancer after class, please call the studio at
402-960-8309 to let us know so we can keep your dancer in the studio until you can pick him/her up.
